Volunteering Event - River Clean Up

Once again, we'll be joining forces with Youth Group members from South Branch Reformed Church--and hopefully, from other churches as well--to form a team for the Raritan Headwaters (formerly South Branch Watershed Association) annual river clean up.  Those who came out last year will know that this is a fun event and a great way to show our love for God's creation by contributing to the health of our rivers and the surrounding environment.

We have to send in our t-shirt request by the end of the month.  Through the generosity of event sponsors, each participant gets a t-shirt, gloves, water, snacks and the satisfaction of participating in a very worthwhile community endeavor.  Please send me the names of participating family members and friends (parents, too) and t-shirt sizes no later than Thursday, February 28.  Thanks!

As we did last year, if there are enough people with conflicts on Saturday, we could also do a Sunday clean up.  The trash we gather doesn't get collected before Monday.  Please let me know.

Blue Christmas Service

Blue Christmas Service

What is a Blue Christmas Service? I am glad you asked. A Blue Christmas Service is held on the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, and it is centered around the fact that the holidays are not always joyful and happy for people. For many it is the darkest time of the year in more ways than sunlight as they struggle with grief and loss, living with uncertainty in relation to jobs or health, and anxiety.

A Blue Christmas service takes the time to acknowledge these realities and focuses on hope that the darkness does not last forever. As the night it is celebrated on is the darkest of the year, that means that the next day is going to be just a little brighter.

Come and join us on Friday, December 21, at 7:30 pm for this meaningful service. All are welcome: those who are feeling blue, those who need a change of pace from the holiday frenzy, and those who just need to hear a little bit more about the hope we have in Christ for a brighter tomorrow.
