Dear Friends,
Each year I realize that the month of May gives us a wonderfully comprehensive view of the diversity of God’s work in our congregation! And this year is no exception:
- May 2 will be our Confirmation Sunday as we welcome the 2009-10 Confirmation Class into their new, adult relationship with God and the Church. At each Baptism we promise to help parents teach their children about God’s love and to share our faith with them. When you watch our teens take their promises that morning, you will know that we, their parents, and God have all kept our promises.
- May 9 is Mothers' Day, a great day for the whole family to worship together before the afternoon celebrations. We speak often about our "Church Family", but the foundation of that family is established within our individual families, places where parents and children share their joys and sorrows and we are only as strong, congregationally, as we are within our homes.
- May 15 we are off to Warwick to rebuild two more tent platforms under Bob Valinski’s leadership. This mission project has not only prepared the camp for the wonders of the summer program, but it has allowed so many of us to get to know each other better as we work and eat and laugh together. If you haven’t signed up yet, for work or food, or if you haven’t contributed toward this cause please do so today!
- May 23 will be our last day of Church School for the year and, as always, we will be presenting Bibles to children. I hope you will be with us to say thank you to Ann Cucchiara and all of the teachers and helpers!
- May 30 we will begin our 9:30 am worship as we recognize the gifts given in memory or in honor of people and events to our special funds. This year those gifts have been especially important to us as we finished the steeple repairs and replaced the heating system. Now we are focused on finishing the essential tasks with the repair of the old interior windows and the installation of new storm windows and the special gifts that are given will make that possible.
Throw in a few weddings and Chris Heitkamp’s graduation from New Brunswick Theological Seminary on May 22 and you will be experiencing the worship, education, mission and fellowship events, activities and celebrations that define who we are, as the people of God in Clover Hill!
I look forward to seeing you there!
Shalom,
Jack
